This induction cooktop is amazing! I can boil water in under a minute, literally. I also love that it connects to my hood vent and turns the hood on/off automatically. Couldn™™t more happy with the performance and tech. I do worry about the glass edges. I am not sure why the glass hovers about the countertop about 1/16™. I am very worried about a pot catching the edge and breaking the glass.

We™™ve had the cooktop for about 3 weeks now and it has performed very well. This is the induction model and it heats up very quickly compared to the old radiant cooktop we had. Controls are very easy to read and heating response is phenomenal!

We purchased the Cafe 30" induction cooktop in August. Over the last month we have had continuing problems with the unit either not turning on at all or turning off in the middle of cooking. We have to go outside and turn the breaker off and then on again to get it working.

With proper cookware, this stove works nicely. Originally, we were having operation issues with our Caphalon pots. Once, we figured out they didn™™t work with the appliance, we ordered a new set. All is good and the cooktop performs well.

Unprotected glass edge can be damaged easily. Installed with the rubber gasket leaves it hanging just waiting to be chipped off. The controls are not easy to use. Good luck on getting a blue tooth thermometer, or one that will work reliably. See the reviews on that overly expensive and unavailable accessory. Using the large ™burner™ at full seems to make the other burners step down a bit, so you have to compensate their settings.

First one we had installed didn™™t work correctly. The pans would only work if they were in the exact right spot on the burner. The unit was replaced finally after several attempts to repair. The new unit works better but the largest burner says it will recognize an 8™ pan, it does not! I wish I would have stuck with an electric stove instead. This one is to particular on just the right type and size of pan and they are expensive!

Thought we would love this product, since it was advertised as "you can boil water in under a minute!" Well you can, but the buttons are difficult to set. We set a plastic dish, yes plastic, on the edge of the glass cover and it chipped and caused a crack. Very disappointed in what is supposed to be a prime product.

GE CASE# 15504648 I have been brand loyal for the past 6 years - this is the second kitchen I have fully outfitted with CAFE appliances. The look is premium, the performance is premium - however currently I cannot recommend this brand to anyone, let alone this cooktop (or the 36" version with assuredly similar electronics) So my complaint was that during regular use of the front left burner it would intermittently have defective operation. I have observed it turning itself off, folding back power as though it has turned off the burner (pulsing back on shortly thereafter) and sometimes a pot of water would simply not boil as though no energy is delivered to the pot. Anticipating the GE Authorized service representative would arrive and not be able to observe the problem, I recorded it when it was displaying one of these issues. GE Sent an authorized representative to view the issue - the individual was not trained in Induction cooktops OR it seems THIS cooktop. I was informed that my pans were too large for the burner (1/8" outside the circle!?) and they weren't flat enough (they are Hexclad Brand). Fair enough - these pans work on EVERY OTHER BURNER!!! The Chantal Pots and Pans that were given to me on my previous remodel also will intermittently showcase one of these issues - the Chantal pot was observed to not boil water for 10 minutes. None the less GE has informed me that appliance is working to spec, even with the video of the issue I submitted to the Authorized Service Rep. I was offered an extended warranty, which is great, and encouraged to keep using the product to exacerbate the issue - this I will begrudgingly do and am hoping simply that my meals dont cook often enough to have enough confidence that I can demonstrate this issue to a service tech. My main issue here is that when researching reddit - this issue seems to be epidemic to GE CAFE Induction products. Though I did NOT see any of these issues with my CAFE Induction Range. It is the idea that this level of performance was accepted and my case displays the use of cookware that is not ferrous enough (Chantal cookware given to me by GE!) I will need to now force my family to use a stove where the most convenient burner may be off after its been turned on, or water may not boil in a pot after waiting outrageously too long for it to do so. I understand the policy and the nature of an intermittent issue, this is why I recorded the issue when it occurred. My disappointment in the unfortunate situation I am in, and lack of acceptable recourse prompts me to question my brand loyalty and ensure that others do not follow this path. Customer Care could understandably NOT push through a replacement on this - none the less I am wildly disappointed as this cooktop with the FRONT burner working inconsistently is not so useful to me when preparing food, especially when I do not know when or how it will exhibit the issue, just to expect water not to boil or the burner to turn off. If you are looking into induction cooktops, look elsewhere or cross your fingers! I feel as though I will continue with an intermittent or worse cooktop until I pay to have something else installed in its place.

This is a great fun to use stovetop, but I hope you can learn from my mistakes. They will tell you about the test for your old pots and pans. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pot or pan it will PROBABLY work. However, you need to understand that the diameter of the pan AND how much actual magnetic steel (not aluminum or stainless) the bottom contains is also VERY important. If your pan bottom seems magnetic, but it still doesn't energize on one or more of the coils, try moving the pan to different diameter coils (as marked on the glass top) and it might be OK. There are also has to be a match with the diameter of the coil underneath the glass. If you find some of your magnetic pots or pans aren't working, try putting them on a bigger or smaller coil (which is marked on the surface of the glass as a circle) Unlike your old stovetop, you MUST match the pan diameter to the coil diameter. Also, you'll be tempted to use a silicone cover that is sold by different vendors to put on top of the glass to prevent scratches, We wound up calling a technician to see why one of the coils/burners would not work. It turned out that the silicone splash cover was just a human hair too thick, so the computer control would not let the two connect. However, I really wanted to use the silicone splash cover. On that one top left coil/burner I discovered that I simply have to push the pot or pan down slightly at the same time I turned the power to that coil on. Once the computer OKed the induction connection, everything worked fine until I shut it off.

I love it! It heats up so quickly and when turned off the pan may still be hot but not the cooktop. So much safer than gas or conventional electric. It cleans so easily. Test your pots and pans with a magnet if in doubt. I bought a new set of beautiful cookware and you don™™t get the stains and discoloration that comes with flames. The controls operate easily. Be sure to read the instructions so that you know what to expect. There is a slight hum that may concern you if not forewarned. I love this product!

4 months after installation, cooktop stops working for no reason and won't turn on. Only way to turn it back on is to reset breaker. This have been a nuisance. Overall I ordered 3 GE Cafe appliances and all of them have to be replaced. On the bright induction cooktop works better than regular electric cooktop.

Love the controls and the accuracy. Coming from had I didn't know what to expect and have been pleasantly surprised. It also looks great. The only gripe I had was I installed it myself and some of the installation supplies (gaskets and screws) were missing.

Awkward sizes for cookware, I agree with the earlier review there is no mid-size. It only takes very large base cookware (10" or more), or very small base cookware. The main circle on the right will shut off if the cookware is too small in circumference which is EXTREMELY frustrating, and requires overly bulky pots. This was a horrible design decision - do not purchase this cooktop if you have medium size pots and pans.

Does not have a mid-size cook area for saute pans, requiring either a very large saute pan or cooking over a burner much smaller than the pan. This is particularly an issue for omelettes. If the pan is the wrong size, the induction zone turns off, making it difficult to properly saute. A very expensive option with an obvious design flaw.

I am new to induction cooking. There has been a learning curve for me, but overall I am loving this cooktop. It is so easy to clean compared to my previous glass cooktop. I love when you turn a burner off, you don't have to remove the pan. It immediately stops cooking.

I loved cooking with gas, and I think induction will be the next best thing. Given the broiler-less ovens offered now, at least by GE, the very high heater possible with by induction burner will be a God-send.

Love cooking on induction. Hate the design of this. The controls are too sensitive - turn on/off from oil splatters, a pan touching them. AND are also not sensitive enough any moisture on fingers or range leaves them useless. At a minimum should not be in center of range.
