Purchased this refrigerator along with 8 other GE appliances for a new home. Nightmare to say the least. I am a long time GE customer. This refrigerator was delivered with a faulty door. Its been over 2 months and I still have a rubber band holding the door gasket on. Waiting on the door delivery. 5 different GE repairman trips and not fixed yet. 3 other appliances in this order also had issues and still not fixed. A consumer case is a joke. Never again GE . Your repair man even suggested glueing the gasket in the door which would VOID my warranty on a brand-new appliance.

Very Frustrating

This refrigerator was a warranty replacement for the same exact refrigerator that we had for right at 5 years BUT had been having issues with it since 10/24. So the answer is we liked the style and efficiency of it, WHEN it worked but we had been without a freezer for 2 months and a both freezer and refrigerator for a month before we finally got a warrantied replacement.

I™€™d highly recommend you DO NOT buy this, especially if you have an open kitchen layout. The consistent humming from the cooling system is impossible. We had a service technician to our house and he said this is a common complaint but there is nothing that can be done. Otherwise the features are good enough but pretty common.

I had two refrigerators within five years, one was a side by side GE profile, which I hated the side by side design, the second of which was a Maytag, which the size was okay, but the icemaker stopped working. When you live in Arizona, you have to have an icemaker. They no longer made the icemaker for that model. We then bought this model of the GE Profile in 2013. When I sold my house in April, 2026, the fridge was still going strong. No repairs, no problems. And, we had an additional icemaker below that was quite large. I left that one in the home I sold, and I am now ordering the same model for the home I bought.

We have had no instruction on how to use this refrigerator, the alarm keeps going off, no help available for a week. Some door is ajar, no instruction on how to use the ice maker, would not buy again. The installer from M&E warehousing in Rochester, NY said the freezer ajar light on was normal.

GE profile refrigerator that does not cool.

we bought our new refrigerator in March of 2026 and have had many problems. We hope to get another new refrigerator to replace it from the manufacturer GE. We had a technician from GE here to checkout the cooling problem on May 23, 2026 and he replaced the thermostat. The temperature in the fridge remains around 54 degrees and we set the fridge to 36 degrees. It still does not cool. Fortunately the appliance store we bought it from has loaned us a second refrigerator to keep our food from spoiling. What a nightmare. Another tech from GE is scheduled to be here at our home on June 9 between 12 and 5pm. I believe it is a problem with the computer in the device and therefore want another new refrigerator. Hopefully it will work properly as this one has been horrible.

We love the lighting. Freezer temperature does well. Wish the lower door shelf was more visible. I do see the step inside the refrigerator. Hard to remove plastic film from edges. I like that it has a similar appearance as my GE wall oven. The water dispenser lever scratches easily. The handle design is easy to clean. Love it.

I do love this fridge. We added the extra ice maker in the freezer which is so nice since the regular ice maker does not make a ton of ice. There are two things I don™€™t like about this fridge and they are both with the ice/water dispenser. First there is no backlight so I have to get my flashlight out a lot to see what button to push. Secondly, it doesn™€™t tell you how many ounces you are getting when you are filling water. My precious ge fridge had those features and I wish this one did. But other than that it is a great fridge.

I was a radiologic engineer before I retired. I worked on x-ray equipment made by many manufacturers (diagnostic x-ray, CT, MRI, mobile units). GE always beat all other companies with their customer support, efficiency, parts on hand, and training. I also have always had GE Profile appliances in my home. This is the 2nd unit I have purchased in 2 years. The first failed just after the one year warranty expired, however a very kind customer service assistance agent worked around this and ordered all the parts I could need and arraigned for a service tech to come from Staten Island to fix it. GE was no help this time though, was told to call a local service company and was told the failure would cost as much as a new unit. So, I went and bought another unit. Let's see how long this one lasts. It's a good unit that does everything I need, but 2 failures in 2 years? So, would or could GE offer me an extended warranty? I mean, 3 to 5 years would be a nice place to start?

Humming and Knocking

I gave this a low rating due to the noise level, water leakage after you use and the customer service. We got this fridge last Aug 25, 2025 and it has been making a knocking noise and a humming sound that started approximately after the first month. My husband called last month and the assistant "who was talking to a service rep" kept saying that they all make this sound. To me, it sounds like a compressor issue with the humming and not sure what causes the knocking sound off and on. For a brand new Fridge, I would not expect any of this!

Not recommend -- poor sealing at ice-maker gaskets

It is a nice sized refrigerator with french doors. However, the seals between the ice-maker comparment and the refrigerator are not well designed or of are poor quality based on the amount of frozen frost/ice crystals on the edge of the compartment and difficulty opening the compartment. We would not recommend this refrigerator to others.

Why are you pushing me to rate a refrigerator we have owned su h short time? Refrigerators are supposed to be a long term thing. Ha! When we bought this one we did so because we have an older model in another house we own. After owning that for 5 years with zero problems, the extended warranty expired and now we have nothing but trouble. Our local repair place (where we purchased the fridge) went to great lengths to help but in the end, was unsuccessful. So now we need to spend +$2,500 to replace a 6 year old GE refrigerator. Needs to say we wish we hadn't bought this one and are waiting for it break down.

In addition to the refrigerator, I also purchased the additional ice maker for the bottom freezer. The installation instructions were somewhat ambiguous and hard to follow. But, I persevered and got it done. The refrigerator functions exactly as I expected. My only complaint is that on my previous GE Profile refrigerator, the doors closed easily. This new refrigerator not so much. Just when you think the doors are going to close, they don't and one has to almost slam the doors closed. The manual doesn't address this issue. I still give the refrigerator a 5-star rating and would purchase it again.

That goodness I purchased an extended warranty through the store. Bought in Feb 2024. Probably would have taken a while to notice that although the refrigerator portion seemed cold, it was not actually cooling to a safe temperature. Duke Energy reps had been to our house for an energy efficiency inspection and had installed thermostats inside so I noticed they seemed to be reading higher than what I had the temperature set on. So I added another thermostat to double check. Took 3 weeks to be checked out, parts ordered and installed. Still not cooling. Repairman came back and is saying the compressor is going bad. Having to wait to see if they choose to repair or replace the whole unit. After doing some research, I found where there is a class action lawsuit pending against GE for knowing the cooling systems in these refrigerators are junk. Since we also within the same month had a GE Upright Freezer that was 1 month out of warranty fail, this will be the last GE appliance we purchase.

Buyer Beware

Never worked correctly 12/25/2025

We paid over $3,000 for this refrigerator and it has never worked correctly. Purchased on September 24th, and the ice maker has never made ice ™€" not once. The fridge does dispense water, so it is getting water, but the ice maker still does not work. We had two Lowe™€™s service teams come out and neither could fix it. We were then told to go through GE for repairs. The first contractor replaced the ice maker ™€" still broken. A second contractor has been out, and it is still not working. After three failed repair attempts, I requested a return and was told it was outside the return window, which is unbelievable considering it never worked from the start. All service visits are Monday™€“Friday only, forcing us to miss work multiple times. For this price, this fridge should have been replaced, not dragged through repeated failed repairs. This has been a nightmare experience and is completely unacceptable.

Excessive Noise Level: The unit operates significantly louder than my previous appliance (an LG model), causing a persistent disruption in the home environment. Difficult Door Closure: The refrigerator doors require a deliberate, forceful push to shut completely; they do not swing or seal shut automatically, making proper closure inconvenient and a potential energy inefficiency risk. Poor Dispenser Interface Visibility: The ice and water dispenser control panel lacks adequate illumination for nighttime use, making it difficult to locate and select the correct buttons in the dark.

Just installed our new refrigerator and its such a difference. The interior is cavernous with more than enough space for us and we're a large family and it cooled really quickly with the turbocool option. I really like the multiple options to increase space and storage and it's super quiet. I don't have the 2nd ice maker yet but it's definitely on our list because we frequently have guests and gatherings.
